One aspect that makes fishing in Hawaii an easy activity for your vacation is that the state does not require any marine recreational fishing license in Hawaii. This goes for residents as well as visitors, so you don’t have to worry about it unless you consider becoming a commercial fisherman. Many people don’t get the chance to go deep sea water fishing. So, take advantage of this chance now. You won't regret it.

Fishing in the Pacific is an experience in itself. While fishing, you will be enchanted by the lush green mountains and scenery surrounding you. You may even see colorful seabirds at play overhead. The fish you catch can only be found in Hawaii, and all of the fish in the sea water of Hawaii have a distinct taste. The size of these fish is also bigger than your local lake, and you will have a blast competing with your family or friends as to who will get the biggest catch!

The common game fish of Hawaii are caught in deep sea sport fishing trips off Oahu s coast. Let us warn you beforehand  “the captain and his local crew may poke fun at you! Don’t lose your confidence though; with an expert team at hand, you will be able to catch different species of fish easily. The fish usually found in this area are Pacific Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Hebi, Mahi-mahi, Ono and Ahi.

The size of a Pacific Blue Marlin is between 80-300 lbs. They are found year-round, with the exception of June. But July and August are considered to be the best months to catch Pacific Blue Marlin. Striped Marlin is fun to catch as well, although their size is relatively small. The small, short-nosed spearfish, Hebi, is aggressive and is common in Hawaiian waters. Mahi-mahi, which means strong in the Hawaiian language, are the most abundant game fish, even though their lifespan is less than four years. However, when hooked, this fish puts on a great show and it's up to you to reel it in. The yellowfin tuna, or Ahi, weighs over 100 lbs. and is generally caught during the summer.
