Hale Koa Hotel Hawaii

A tropical oasis rests on the edge of Waikiki Beach inside the Fort DeRussy Armed Forces Recreation Center. The Hale Koa Hotel is designated for active duty, reserves, DOD employees and their families.

The name Hale Koa means House of the Warrior in Hawaiian, and the name could not be any more fitting. Sitting on over 60 acres of Waikiki Beach, the Hale Koa Hotel is one of the most beautiful places for those who have sacrificed for our country to have some fun in the sun.

Aside from all the amenities of a typical resort, the Hale Koa Hotel has the best access to the recreation facilities of Fort DeRussy. While the hotel is for military and their families only and owned by the Department of Defense, it is self-sufficient and does not receive any government funding.

History

After seeing the advantages to having rest and relaxation destinations for military personnel only, like that of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel during World War II, plans for the hotel were put in place. Opened in 1975, the hotel was an immediate success and received a substantial expansion in 1991. The mission has always been to provide first-class service and accommodations to military personnel at an affordable price.
