Five miles east of Kahului, Maui, is a state park just 5 acres large. Pua'a Ka'a State Park features scenic pools, waterfalls and rainforest. The park, located in the northern slopes of Mt. Haleakala
at an elevation of 1,200 feet, is not too far from Hana Town
along the Hana Highway

“Pua'a Ka'a” means “open laughter” in Hawaiian, a symbol of the playful wild animals, like chicken and mongoose, that frolic about the park.
