Near the
Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, located on
Ford Island in historic hangars scarred by World War II battles, the
Pacific Aviation Museum features authentic wartime aircraft that will lift every visitor to a new level. With a focus on the Pearl Harbor attacks, the museum also offers exhibits of international aviation history aimed for people of all ages. In total there will be five hangars comprising the museum. As of 2011, two hangars showcase the museum’s collection.
History
On December 7, 2006, the first of five planned museum locations, Hangar 37, a 42,000 square foot former seaplane hangar that survived the December 7, 1941 attack, opened to the public. Future phases of the
Pacific Aviation Museum will focus on the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Cold War.
