About Mokulua Islands

The Mokulua Islands on Oahu's windward side are one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in all of Hawaii. Meaning "Two Islands" in Hawaiian, they each have their own name. Mokulua Nui meaning Mokulua North, and Mokulua Iki meaning Mokulua South. Just offshore from Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach, a stop at either of these beaches offer a stunning view of the Mokulua Islands.

History

As a safe haven for Hawaii seabirds for many years, the Mokulua Islands are a state seabird sanctuary. Visiting Mokulua Iki, the island on the right is actually off-limits, as is the interior of Mokulua Nui. Kayakers and paddlers visit Mokulua Nui, the island on the left where there is a small beach to land upon and relax. There are also rocky shores and a cove to explore around the island's rim.
