Magic Island (Aina Moana) is a beach park located on a peninsula that is situated on the eastern side of
Ala Moana Beach Park. Here you’ll find joggers running the winding, paved paths, families on picnics, fishermen waiting for something to bite their lines, cyclists, skaters, wedding photographers and more.
With gorgeous views of Diamond Head and Waikiki to the east and
Downtown Honolulu to the west, Magic Island is a favorite destination for tourists and locals looking for a peaceful escape from the city.
History
This man-made peninsula was built in 1964 as part of a resort complex that was never completed. The 30 acres of reclaimed reef were made into a public park soon after, and the name Magic Island was officially change to Aina Moana in 1972.
