Lipoa Point is the site of a conservation area, and provides breathtaking views of the rugged western Maui coastline. It is located just to the north of Honolua bay, and is a very popular surfing spot during the winter months when Maui’s northern shores get hit with big southern swells. There is a coastal trail here that runs about a mile along the coast, and stretches from just after Honolua bay, across Lipoa point, and to Punalau Beach. Lipoa point has many small coves which provide some good places to snorkel during the summer months when the waves are smaller. The beach here is part of
Honolua Bay, and lies in the Honolua-Mokule’ia Marine Life Conservation District.
