What's this attraction about?
There are three Kamaole Beach Parks. Kamaole Beach Park I is the most northern of the three parks, and is the first one you’ll come to as you drive south down South Kihei Road. The three Kamaole beaches are separated by rocky outcroppings, and all three of the Kamaoles offer sandy beaches and great places for swimming. Kamaole II is known for fun waves when the swell is from the southwest, and the third and most southern Kamaole, Kamaole Beach Park III, is a favorite among South Maui Locals. During the summer these three beach parks can become very crowded.
History
Charley Young came to Maui as a military reporter and purchased a piece of land right near where Kamaole I would one day be. Unfortunately, he had his land taken away during WWII so the military could train in an environment similar to enemy beaches. He got his land back after the war and built his house.
