Honolua Bay

Honolua Bay is known for its great snorkeling. The right side of the bay is the best area for snorkeling and diving. There is a small beach here, but most of the activity at this beach takes place in the water. Honolua Bay is part of the Marine Life Conservation District, so taking of any natural resources is strictly prohibited.

History

Honolua Valley has been an important part of the history on Maui. The Honolua valley was the site of a cattle ranch which would eventually become the farm which is now a part of the Maui Land and Pineapple Company.

• Location: the Coast of Western Maui
• Amenities: Showers, no lifeguards on duty.
• Fun Fact: The maiden voyage of the Hokule’a, a Polynesian style voyaging canoe, was launched from Honolua Bay in 1978.
• What To Expect: Lots of marine life, a small beach, and great snorkeling opportunities. There are very good waves during certain times of the season, take care not to swim or snorkel when the waves are big.
