The
Bailey House Museum is maintained by the Maui Historical Society, and is a wealth of information on the historical aspects of Maui. The museum also showcases Hawaiian Culture and artifacts, as well as artifacts from 19th century Maui.
History
The Bailey House is a mission home that was built in 1833, and it was built on the grounds of the last ruling king of Maui. The property lies at the mouth of the Iao Valley, not far from the
Iao Valley State Monument. The house was re-opened as a museum in 1957and in 1972, the site was placed on the National and Hawaii registers of historic places.
