When the time comes, board a Navy shuttle boat bound for the Arizona Memorial. Be sure to visit the Shrine Room and reflect on the names of the 1,177 men eternally resting within the sunken battleship below. When peering down at the actual battleship wreckage try and spot some oil drops. These drops, known as the “black tears of the Arizona,” have come to represent the idea that Americans will never forget the sacrifices made on behalf of freedom that faithful day.
Back at the Visitor’s Center, take time to browse through the fascinating exhibits and explore the gift shop where you can find Pearl Harbor books, memorabilia and souvenirs. From the grounds of the Visitor’s Center, view various attractions like battleship row, and the USS Bowfin Submarine. The USS Missouri, located on Pearl Harbor’s Ford Island, is also easy to view from here. Don’t get too comfortable just viewing it from afar. You will surely have a better sense of its sheer presence when you find yourself walking her decks at your next stop.

At the USS Missouri Battleship, affectionately known as the “Mighty Mo,” see the table on which the Japanese signed the peace treaty that effectively brought an end to WWII. Also, see the dent caused by a Kamikaze pilot’s unsuccessful attempt to destroy this famous warship.
