Discover Hawaii Tours was founded in 1995, with the goal of treating our visitors to Hawaii like guests and travelers – not tourists. Our foundation and all decisions are made on our mantra: “We Promise to be the Best Part of Your Vacation!”

Live Chat Operator/Office Assistant

  • Brief Description

    Looking for a Live Chat Operator / Office Assistant to join our Honolulu based team! This cross-functional role will allow the right candidate to work across multiple departments and spearhead our Customer Service efforts both online and in-office. We are looking for someone to be the face of Discover, who is eager, passionate, patient and able to think on his or her feet. This role will allow you to work alongside all of Discover teams including Operations, E-Commerce, Marketing, and Dispatch. You will get a well-rounded insight into the company as a whole. This is a full-time, salary position. You will be hired as a temporary employee with the option to become a regular full-time employee after 90 days.
  • Responsibilities

    • Chat with users in a kind and respectful manner using Zendesk
    • Respond to ~250-300 live chats per week
    • Follow up on any missed chats via email (approximately 20-30 emails/day)
    • Create customer service reports to distribute to the team
    • Build itineraries, share helpful travel tips, find and report bugs, and QA new products
    • Greet and host all in-office visitors
    • Maintain a positive, helpful, and inviting attitude
    • Receive and distribute mail and packages
    • Complete administrative tasks when time allows (i.e. order supplies for the office, schedule office equipment maintenance, scan documents, ship packages, etc.)
    • Help maintain a clean and organized office at all times
    • Manage our catered lunch orders (delivery and help with cleanup)
    • Help plan monthly and special events
    • Other projects as they arise
  • Experience

    • 3-5 years of consumer email marketing experience
    • Proven track record of managing successful email marketing campaigns
    • Ability to write effectively because you’ll write emails for customers
    • Proactive, energetic, self-starter who thrives on getting stuff done
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to develop email strategies, segmentation, list management, and content management to optimize engagement and continuously improve results
    • Clear understanding of marketing metrics and expertise in A/B testing and ROI analysis
    • Creativity and desire to create new and innovative campaigns
    • Outstanding oral communication skills
    • Comfort and experience with tracking and analyzing data because you’ll analyze our programs
    • Ability to manage others. Note: this position does not initially have direct reports, but has the potential to include them in the future as the company grows
    • Basic knowledge of HTML – it’s especially important because email templates requires HTML template work. You don’t need to be able to code, but it will be very helpful to be able to manipulate existing email templates in ExactTarget
    • Prior experience with Mail Chimp, Hubspot, and Zendesk strongly preferred

Webmaster/Front-End Developer

  • Brief Description

    Discover Hawaii Tours is seeking a detailed oriented Webmaster / Front End Developer with a minimum of 3-5 years professional experience building and maintaining enterprise level B2C & B2B websites.
    The candidate will develop, update, optimize & enhance our brand websites including DiscoverHawaiiTours.com, PearlHarborOahu.org, and several other web properties operated by the company.
    This person will work closely with internal business clients and external agencies to understand and recognize business, industry, and technology variables in deploying new websites and technology solutions.
    This will be a dynamic role responsible for a variety of duties including front-end web development, managing web application integration along with other web/digital duties as assigned, including Amazon hosting management.
    This role requires solid programming skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript along with general working knowledge of other relevant web technologies such as JQuery, PHP, XML, AJAX, .NET.
