Waikiki has some real hidden gems, and these tips might be what you need to have the best vacation ever!

See the wild side of paradise at the Honolulu Zoo

Located on the edge of Waikiki within walking distance of the hotels is the Honolulu Zoo. With creatures from every corner of the globe calling Waikiki home, be sure to check out the African Savannah, petting zoo, and my favorite, the flamingo pond!
Make a splash (or two) learning how to surf
Hawaii is the birthplace of surfing, and no one has made surfing more popular than Duke Kahanamoku at Waikiki Beach. With small gentle waves and Diamond Head as the backdrop, there is no better place to learn to surf!
You can either brave it on your own by renting a board or head to one of the many beach shacks where you can sign up for a lesson!

Shop for souvenirs at the famed International Marketplace

If there’s one place to shop for souvenirs in Waikiki it has to be the International Marketplace. Located in the heart of the Waikiki strip, you can find anything from light-up T-shirts and tropical wind chimes to Tahitian pearls and Crocs slippers. Spend the afternoon there and grab some lunch in the food court. If you still have room for dessert, head to the Dole soft serve stand for some famous Dole Whip! Heading to the International Marketplace is a great answer of “What to do in Waikiki” if shopping is the answer you want to hear!

Visit Hawaii’s historic Pearl Harbor

If you stay in Waikiki the whole time you’re in Hawaii you’re going to miss out on so much! Be sure to experience some of the islands historic attractions like Pearl Harbor.
From mighty battleships and solemn memorials to restored warbirds and attack survivors, a visit to Pearl Harbor will surely give you a new appreciation and deeper insight for World War II.

Take in the vibrant Waikiki nightlife on an evening stroll

Once the sun goes down in Waikiki, the town really comes to life. Making their way down Kalakaua Avenue with souvenirs, clothes, beach bags, boogie boards, and the rest of dinner to take back to the room, there is hardly a shortage of vacationers in full bustle during the evening in Waikiki. Be sure to get out there and experience Waikiki’s nightlife!
If you’re out strolling on a Friday night be sure to head to the beach at 7:45 p.m. sharp for the free Waikiki fireworks show!

Discover Hawaii’s underwater wonderland at the Waikiki Aquarium

Just across the street from the Honolulu Zoo is the Waikiki Aquarium. Founded over 100 years ago, the aquarium has been delighting visitors to Hawaii for decades.
With touch ponds, informative displays, and exciting exhibits, there is something for the whole family to discover on a visit to the Waikiki Aquarium!

Sail away into the sunset

A relaxing and fun way to watch the sun slip into the sea is to take a sunset sailing cruise! Imagine coasting silently over the water, watching the lights of the hotels begin to light up the sky as you enjoy a timeless tropical sunset.
Best part is, (for those of age) a cocktail is included with your ticket!
