Veterans Affairs Declares USS Missouri Official Vet’s Day Regional Site

The United State Department of Veterans Affairs has recently announced that the USS Missouri Battleship is a 2011 Veterans Day Regional Site.

Tours of Pearl Harbor are available on Veteran’s Day every year.

The Veterans Affairs office selects a number of key regional sites to celebrate the national holiday. In Arlington, Virginia, the Veterans Day National Ceremony is held every year on November 11 at the Arlington National Cemetery. Major Regional Sites include:
  • Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust in Washington State
  • Gulf Coast Annual Veterans Day Parade in Biloxi, Mississippi
  • Sacramento Youth Symphony in California

Discover Hawaii Tours will be operating tours on its regular schedule on November 11, 2011.

From the official website of the VA:
“The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces. The Veterans Day National Committee also selects a number of regional sites for Veterans Day observances throughout the country. From stirring parades and ceremonies to military exhibits and tributes to distinguished veterans, these events serve as models for other communities to follow in planning their own observances.”
Veteran’s Day ceremonies in Honolulu, Hawaii will take place on November 11, 2011 at Pearl Harbor. Stay up-to-date by following @discoverhawaii and @USSMissouri on Twitter.
