Three More Planes Join Hawaiian Airlines Inter Island Fleet

The biggest airline in Hawaii, Hawaiian Airlines, will be leasing three Boeing 717-200s. These three planes will be introduced to the Hawaiian fleet later this year and will be used for interisland flights throughout Hawaii. With the additional planes, Hawaiian Airlines will be adding 20 additional flights per day. Not only will these extra flights help boost inter-island tourism here in Hawaii, it will also help the Hawaii economy since Hawaiian Airlines will be hiring up to 50 pilots and flight attendants to staff. These additional flights will begin in October. Founded in 1929 as Inter-Island Airways, the airline changed its name to Hawaiian Airlines in 1941. Hawaiian is the 11th largest airline in the country and has never had a fatal accident. This past January, Hawaiian added a new international flight to South Korea. Hawaiian Airlines said it will expand its service to Kahului (Maui), Lihue (Kauai), and to Hilo and Kona (Big Island). Each Boeing 717 can seat up to 123 passengers. Discover Hawaii Tours works in conjunction with Hawaiian Airlines to provide incredible inter-island tours of Hawaii.
