US Government Shutdown is Over!

We are delighted to announce that the US Government Shutdown is Over! As of Friday at 7:00 a.m. the USS Arizona Memorial, Volcanoes National Park and Haleakala National Park will be reopened after being shut down for 16 days.On October 1 with heavy hearts we announced that we would be making alternative plans for our Pearl Harbor Tours and completely shut down our tours to Volcanoes National Park. Most of our guests were understanding but still very disappointed. “People have a strong connection to Pearl Harbor,” said Arnold Albiar, Operations Manager of Discover Hawaii Tours. “It is important for the public to have access to such a significant part of history. I am glad the Shutdown is over and we can get back to providing our guests the complete Pearl Harbor experience.”

Volcanoes National Park is located on the Big Island of Hawaii and attracts people from all over the world. The park estimates 72,000 people have been turned away causing about a $4.2 million hit to the local economy. The park reopened on Thursday, October 17 at 6:00 a.m. to a line of excited guests. Pearl Harbor will be open and ready to receive guests on Friday, October 18 at 7:00 a.m.. Discover Hawaii Tours can’t wait and we will have buses, tour guides and tourists ready.
