3 Family Activities to Try While You’re Visiting Oahu

Hawaii is an excellent family vacation spot. While it’s often considered a romantic destination—and certainly popular with honeymooners—Hawaii actually has loads of activities for family fun. What’s more, you’ll expose your children to a beautiful climate, fantastic wildlife and nature, and a whole new culture, whether you’re visiting Oahu or any of Hawaii’s other stunningly beautiful islands.
Visiting Oahu

All this without leaving the US! If you are choosing Hawaii for your next family vacation, here are three activities to keep you busy while you’re there:

  1. Sea Life Park is a great place to start your family vacation when visiting Oahu. Located  north of Hanauma Bay, Sea Life Park is fun for the whole family. Here you’ll see the Sea Life Park shark tank, reefs, lagoons, pools and theaters. You can swim with the dolphins or take in a luau at Sea Life Park. Feed sea turtles and learn about all the aquatic animals that call Hawaii home. If you’re looking to make this trip easy and fun, book your tickets through DiscoverHawaiiTours.com . They’ll pick you up, take you to Sea Life Park and include lunch for the day.
  2. Another great spot to visit is Pearl Harbor. Here you’ll introduce your children to some important WWII history and show them the USS Arizona Memorial. History comes alive at Pearl Harbor as you walk the memorial and visit the battleships that once fought in the World Wars. Your children will enjoy seeing this piece of history and will also remember what they learned. Experience is so much more profound than what they can learn in a classroom—make your vacation just a little bit educational to benefit your children.
  3. Finally, take your family to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Here you’ll explore all the islands of Polynesia, from Tahiti to Samoa and more. You’ll learn about the Polynesian traditions and how the crafts and people change on each island. A canoe parade and a luau will be the highlight of your day. This is also a great stop to buy souvenirs and gifts you can only find in Hawaii! Again, this will be a learning experience for your children, but also a lot of fun. Once you visit the cultural center, Hawaii’s traditions and nuances will have a deeper meaning to you. You’ll enjoy the traditional cuisine with a new flare and you’ll look at everything from surfing and fishing to aloha shirts with a new found respect. Make sure to stop by the cultural center to deepen your experience on Hawaii and to help your family learn about a new culture.
