New Australian Airline to Fly to Hawaii

The newest air carrier from Australia, Strategic Airlines, is planning to offer non-stop flights from Brisbane to Honolulu by the end of the year. Tentatively scheduled to begin flying in either November or December, this new route will be unique since all other flights from Australia to Hawaii fly out of Sydney.According to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald, Strategic Airlines is preparing to change its name to Air Australia. This new route to Hawaii will be Strategic’s first foray into the US market, and it will make the airline one of seven carriers that fly between the US and Australia. In 2010, over a 140,000 visitors from Australia visited the Hawaiian Islands. Strategic Airlines hopes to increase the number of visitors to Hawaii with their direct flight from the capital of Queensland. The airline will use one of their two Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the new route.

Air Australia expansion not just limited to Hawaii

Along with Strategic’s expansion to Hawaii, the airline is looking at possible routes to China. However, Strategic posted a $9.3 million over the last financial year, which could be a hindrance for the young airline and its new route to Hawaii.
