Wonderful Hawaii Awards and Accolades: Best Vacation Sites

Hawaii has won many travel Awards and Accolades. The pacific islands are well known for many things, such as stunning mountainous scenery, lush jungles, and pristine white and black-sand beaches, to name a few.  Yet few know of the awesomeness of Honolulu, an electric city at the crossroads of Western and Eastern culture.  As the #9 destination on TripAdvisor’s 2013 Traveler’s Choice Awards, visitors to Oahu, or “the gathering place,” enjoy five-star dining and shopping. Oahu is the Gathering Island and has won many Hawaii Awards and Accolades

Oahu has everything from jaw-dropping scenery on a hike up Koko Head Crater, to a sobering yet informative visit to Pearl Harbor.  A short drive out of Honolulu, the famous surf mecca of the North Shore buzzes with surfers and spectators—especially in the winter months as the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing takes place from November to December. Maui no ka oi, or “Maui is the best,” seems to come out of the mouth of everyone who’s visited this popular honeymoon spot.  The fantastic “honeymoon island” (judging by the sheer number of couples who come to stay) is host to a handful of the world’s best beaches. In fact, the World Travel Awards have named Maui “North America’s Leading Honeymoon Destination” four years running, from 2010 to 2013.  What’s more, the World Travel Awards have also praised Maui as “North America’s Leading Beach Destination” three years in a row, from 2010 to 2012.  Maui also has the most beautiful highway in the world called the “Road to Hana.” TripAdvisor additionally awarded Lahaina, an old historic whaling town on Maui, the #18 Best Destination in the United States.  Maui’s beautiful mix of urban and rural Hawaiian life make it an ideal spot—perhaps the best place to start—on a vacation to the Aloha State.  For that, we say, mahalo.
