Doubletree Alana Partners with GreenCar Hawaii
GreenCar Hawaii is a new organization that has begun making electric vehicles (or EV’s) available to the public through their Personal Vehicle Shared Mobility (PVSM) services. Their whole concept revolves around the green movement and efforts to make people more aware of their effects on the environment, or ways that they can help preserve. GreenCar Hawaii offers guests at Hawaiian hotels the opportunity to rent out clean-energy vehicles on-demand directly from their hotel. If you are a resident in Waikiki you can use the program too! The Doubletree Alana located in Waikiki is the first hotel on Oahu that is offering GreenCar Hawaii’s services. The general manager of the Doubletree, Tom Herman, told Eglobal travel media “Our guests, patrons and the community now have access to on-demand mobility by hour directly from the hotel and at the same time help us support our global brand’s sustainability initiatives.” You can make your reservations with GreenCar Hawaii over the phone, on their website, or at their kiosk located in the lobbies of participating hotels; at the moment is only at The Doubletree Alana on Oahu, or at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa on Kauai. GreenCar Hawaii’s vehicles include a Hybrid Electric SUV, which is available to rent on the Big Island. The GreenCar Hawaii Center located on Oahu has two battery electric sedans which use no fossil fuels. The cars run completely on “electrons” instead of gas, and are competitively priced at $15 per hour or $95 per day. And unlike some of the other car rental agencies there’s no check-ins or check-outs and no long paper work. Just check-in at the GreenCar Hawaii Kiosk located in the hotel lobby, and hand your voucher to the valet in front of the hotel. Just make sure you have it back on time, because if someone has the car reserved after your time you will essentially be paying double for it if you’re late.
