Fire at Kauai Resort
Last Friday a fire erupted at the Hanalei Bay Resort on the island of Kauai. The fire broke out in the resort’s restaurant, which was closed for renovation at the time. Set in the crescent shaped Hanalei Bay, this Kauai beach resort is one of the most gorgeous places in Hawaii. The fire was contained to just the restaurant by the eighteen firefighters who battled the blaze for two hours. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the Kauai beach resort suffered $3 million worth of property damage. Luckily no one was hurt in the fire. Hanalei Bay was named the top beach in Dr. Beach’s 2009 List of Top Ten Beaches. At two-miles long, this golden sand beach is a heavenly enclave. Hanalei Bay also features the iconic Hanalei Pier, built in 1892, and featured in the film “South Pacific.” Located in the eastern end of Hanalei, this Kauai beach resort is set on 22 acres of tropical grounds. While the Hanalei Bay Resort will not close due to the fire, this Kauai beach resort faces some major renovation in the upcoming months.
