Eat the Street: Chocolate

Eat the Street Chocolate - Discover Hawaii News Street Grindz will be putting on their monthly event February 24th in Kakaako, just outside of Honolulu. The festivities begin at 4pm and end at 9pm, at 805 Ala Moana Blvd (in the old Cutter Used Car Lot). There will be street parking available and a paid lot across the street for a small $2.00 fee. Each month the Street Grindz crew comes up with a new theme for their event. Some past events include such great themes as Eat Local, Dia de Los Muertos, Black Saturday, and their recent 1st Birthday Luau. This month’s theme is Chocolate! All food trucks have been asked to incorporate chocolate into their menu, in some way or another. Food truck operators always get excited leading up to the event. Extreme Tacos (@xtremetacos) tweeted about the event saying “Get ready for some “killer” Chicken Mole tonight at #EattheStreet, it’s all about the CHOCOLATE!” Many vendors create special menu items for the Eat the Street Events, while some just happen to have those items already on their menu. The Aloha Ice Cream Tricycle has announced its specialty: Mr. Ed Bar, with lots of creamy chocolate and chunky peanut butter this is sure to be worth trying! Another tempting treat on the menu from Cheeseburgerland – a dish you might not expect to find chocolate in normally – is Chili. Theirs, creatively named, Special Chili is homemade chili with chipotle and chocolate. With all of the great chocolately choices, and the many trucks from all around Oahu, its hard to resist. Heading out to Eat the Street is never a disapointment, and going just for a dessert is a good enough reason to go!
