Vote Ala Moana Park: Coca-Cola’s “America’s Favorite Park”

Last week, Ala Moana Regional Park was ranked 26th in Coca-Cola’s “America Is Your Park” campaign that will donate $100,000 to the winning park.

If Ala Moana Regional Park wins the contest, Coca-Cola will award Mayor Peter Carlisle and the city a $100,000 grant to improve the park.

Coca-Cola teamed up with Foursquare to increase the number of votes from users who check-in with the social-location mobile app.

A Foursquare check-in is worth more than a regular vote if you link you Foursquare to LivePositively.com, Coca-Cola’s community organization.

Voting ends mid-July, vote now!

Grand prize: $100,000
Second Place: $50,000
Third Place: $25,000

Coca-Cola’s Live Positively initiative says that winning parks can use the grants for restoration or enhancement projects, including sewer lines maintenance, sprinkler upgrades, sand replacement, and general improvements.

Where is Ala Moana Regional Park?

The Ala Moana park is located directly across from the Ala Moana Shopping Center and is home to Ala Moana Beach Park and Magic Island.

The park is a favorite destination for city residents. Every day, hundreds of people use the park, which is a haven for joggers, family picnics, sunbathers, stand-up paddleboarders, bicyclists, wedding photographers, surfers and fishermen.

It’s on of Honolulu’s biggest parks and is located just outside of Waikiki.

A recent grant from Coca-Cola awarded $10,000 to Mayor Carlisle and Honolulu for park improvements.
