In September 2010, Discover Hawaii Tours had roughly 130 Likes on their Facebook Page. In less than two years, the company’s fanbase grew exponentially, at times gaining over 6,000 Likes in a week. On April 5, 2012, the company reached 20,000 Likes.
The 25,000 milestone places Discover Hawaii Tours as one of Hawaii’s top businesses that is actively using social media. The company also has a large presence on other social media platforms, including Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, FourSquare and TripAdvisor.
“When we hired our Social Media Manager, Roger Bong, in March 2011 we wanted to grow our social presence online by leaps and bounds. Now that we’ve come this far, I’m excited for the next step in this journey,” says Strayhorn.
The tour operator also reached another milestone on TripAdvisor, an online community for travelers. In May 2012, Discover Hawaii Tours hit 1,000 “Excellent” reviews on TripAdvisor.
