About Nahiku Road
Just past mile marker 25 on the Hana Highway is a steep downhill turnoff. This is Nahiku Road, which is about 2.5 miles long. It is a road surrounded by the lush rainforest that covers the Hana area. At the end of the road is Opuhano Point, providing breathtaking views of Honolulunui Bay. There’s a beautiful lookout point plus a picnic area at the end of the road. If you’re continuing down the Road to Hana, be sure to stop at the Kahanu Botanical Gardens, just a few miles east.
The road is lined with rubber trees, which are the only visible remnants of a plantation that once existed in the area.
