Kilauea Volcano Update

8/31/10 - Over the past 3 months, events have occurred in sequences starting with one or two large amplitude, long duration events followed by a sequence of four or more smaller, events. This activity has strengthened the flow of the lava and it has entered the ocean in large amounts. Highways 103 and 137 have been blocked by the lava flow since early July and are now both under many feet of hardened lava.
